Nominate the 2019 Globalist of the Year

Nominate the 2019 Globalist of the Year.

Who should be this year’s Globalist of the Year at The Seattle Globalist’s sixth annual Globie Awards?

The annual Globie Awards brings journalists, community leaders, media makers, and philanthropists to gather together and celebrate. We’ll be at Canvas Event Space on Saturday, Sept. 21st for good food, amazing company, and inspiring speeches from our award recipients.

We’re looking for a person or organization in the Pacific Northwest doing great community work that embodies the values of The Seattle Globalist: racial equity, social and economic justice, elevating the voices of communities of color and immigrants, integrity, diversity, and community impact.

Our 2018 Globalist of the Year was immigration rights activist Maru Mora-Villalpando, who has advocated for immigrant rights for nearly two decades. She founded Latino Advocacy in 2010 to help organizations and grassroots groups led by people of color build a true base in the community led by immigrants themselves and ultimately racial justice. Previous Globalists of the Year were Donald Byrd of Spectrum Dance Theater, Rita Meher of Tasveer, Era Schrepfer of FIUTS and Arab community activist Rita Zawaideh.

We’re looking for other people or organizations whose work has made a difference for communities of color, immigrant communities and social justice.
