Hugging everybody on her first day in the United States

Mario Godoy-Gonzalez says his family’s first day in the United States is his best “first day” story.

He and his family arrived in the United States to join him from Santiago, Chile, in 1993, and he had warned his wife that some Americans don’t like to be kissed and hugged and said to respect their space.

But upon the warm welcome the family got by their friends in Grand Coulee, Washington, Mario’s warning went out the window.
