In September the Globalist welcomed a new team member: Youth Program Coordinator DJ Martinez!

DJ is a trans activist and performing artist originally from Richmond, California. He has worked in various after school programs and internships that primarily focused on youth development and digital media. With a Bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering, DJ is passionate about art and pop culture, and is committed to exploring & cultivating these areas through a social justice lens with young community members.

With DJ’s help, and thanks to support from the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture, we are re-launching our Globalist Youth Journalism Program Friday October 9th. This program, open to 16-19 year olds, offers eight weeks of after school workshops, covering things like interviewing, photography, reporting, writing, and finding story ideas. We still have an open spot or two, so if you or a young person you know is interested, send DJ a note!

Welcome to the Globalist, DJ!
