The Seattle Seahawks apologized hours after posting a tweet that compared their unlikely win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s fight for civil rights. Or perhaps paid homage. You be the judge.
The original tweet was deleted shortly after it was posted, but not before it was captured by other users.
Later Monday afternoon the Seahawks apologized.
We apologize for poor judgment shown in a tweet sent earlier. We did not intend to compare football to the civil rights legacy of Dr. King.
