Mirudhula Thambiah
I’m Mirudhula Thambiah, professionally weilding my pen in the field of Journalism attached to Ceylon Today, a daily print, holding a diploma-in- journalism from the Sri Lanka College of Journalism.
During the period of five years in the field, my articles have been published in English on Lakbima News, The Nation and The Sunday Times, while my writings in Tamil were published in Samakaalam Magazine.
Currently I’m ferreting out and reporting issues pertaining to the post-war scenario, especially regarding the development of the war victims, resettlement and the rehabilitation processes in the North and East of Sri Lanka , where a horrible armed conflict from 1980s-2009 was experienced. I have been involved in Investigative Journalism reporting on various social, political issues and covered Parliament proceedings as well.
I may be elated if my writings contribute at least minimum to bring about re-conciliation among the nationalities and communities of Sri Lanka, while uplifting the living standards of each and every members of the society.
I’m an undergraduate of the Open University of Sri Lanka reading Social Sciences. Since I had my passion as a social activist, I always preferred to be among people, study from them and create awareness among them with the knowledge I gain. Also coming from a family of Journalists, I have been inspired to take up this career.
