Eliván Martínez Mercado
After studying foreign languages at the University of Puerto Rico, he began his journalism career in El Nuevo Herald in Miami and then moved to El Nuevo Día, in Puerto Rico. He completed a Masters Degree at the School of Journalism UAM / El País in Madrid in 2006. He is an investigative journalist at the Center for Investigative Journalism in Puerto Rico since its inception. In 2012, he won a grant from The Fund for Investigative Journalism, which led him to discover 'The tax secret Mayor Santini', a series that earned him the Overseas Press Club and the Association of Journalists of Puerto Rico awards. His chronicles 'The Treasure of a Rebellious Scientific' and 'The People Who Dreamed Again with Music' earned awards at the Overseas Press Club and the Association of Journalists of Puerto Rico in 2015.
