Alka Kurian

Alka Kurian is a Lecturer at the University of Washington Bothell where she teaches film studies, literature, women's studies and human rights. Alka is the Faculty Adviser to the Film Festival Club at University of Washington Bothell. In 2012 she published a book entitled "Narratives of Gendered Dissent in South Asian Cinemas" and is currently working on an edited book on "Emerging Social Activism in South Asian Film, Literature and New Media". She has been working for Tasveer (tasveer.org) since 2007 and is currently co-director of the 9th Seattle South Asian Film Festival.
