Join The Seattle Globalist for the fourth annual Globie Awards October 14th, 2016! The globies highlight our best writers and honor Seattle’s Globalist of the Year, Donald Byrd!

In just three years, the Globies has distinguished itself as one of the most dynamic events in Seattle. It’s an energetic, quirky, feel-good party. We promise you won’t be bored!

This year we’ve got a new location, and we’ll be celebrating with your host for the evening, Hollis Wong-Wear at the Georgetown Ballroom. Join us for a night of dancing, drinks, and of course, the famous Globie Awards photo booth!

All proceeds benefit Seattle Globalist media makers and youth.

Last year, 220 attendees packed Club Sur to honor our award recipients.

Rita Meher won Globalist of the Year; Goorish Wibneh won for Community Journalist of the Year; Sharon H. Chang for Social Justice Commentator of the Year; and Jama Abdirahman for Youth Reporter of the Year.

The Host: We are excited to announce that your host for the evening is one of Seattle’s Smartest Global Women: Hollis Wong-Wear. Hollis is the lead vocalist of the Seattle-based electronic R&B trio The Flavr Blue, and was GRAMMY nominated for Album of the Year for her vocal performance of “White Walls” on The Heist by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Hollis serves on the Seattle Center Advisory Commission and Seattle Music Commission, and sits on the Board of Directors at 4Culture, King County’s public arts agency.

The auction: Will include our best-ever prize packages.
